APPROACH
What
is my approach to working with individuals in a counselling environment?
I
feel that counselling provides an opportunity to dialogue about issues
of the essential core. Our essential core (Soul, Inner Being, Spirit, -- there are many terms) is
the centering and grounding force in all of life. Without that forces,
we often feel separate from our selves and from others, unable to make
clear decisions, unhappy about our life patterns, and other dis-eases. I
work by beings a sounding board, a listener, a question asker, a
challenger - but most of all, by being a support.
I
have a very eclectic approach to counselling. I see my role as assisting
each person in finding the most appropriate path - whether that be
talking through issues, using creative energies, utilizing dreams, or
other processes.
How
do I work?
I
see the building of trust as core to my work. Since this takes time to
achieve, I generally ask that new people make a four session commitment
(after an initial interview ) and after that time to commit to a
contract for the time we feel might be necessary to fully explore the
issues or concern.
If
at any time either of us feel that the session are becoming unproductive
or that the guidance I am able to give is not adequate, we would review
our contract and determine a course of action together. I would help
with referrals for problems/concerns that I am not qualified to address.
